01 Description

Wheat probably originates from Asia or the Middle East.

Archaeological discoveries prove that wheat was cultivated around 4000 BC and then transported to Europe from Asia via the Nile Delta. Brownish grain that separates from the ear during threshing.

Wheat is the most important ingredient for the production of bread and this is probably also its best-known use.

Very versatile, it is ideal for human consumption.

What is malted flour?

Water must be added to the Wheat to aid germination (malt). This process is interrupted after several days and the wheat is dried at around 60°C. Two important enzymes are produced (Alphamylase and Betamylase); which mutually increase the intensity of dextrin and maltose in wheat.
