Originally from the Middle East, it was brought to Western Europe by Tartars and Turks. Its grains are small, three tipped, brown with silver-grey toned, approx. 0.5cm long. It does not contain gluten so is ideal for glutenfree diets. Buckwheat contains a good percentage of iron and phosphorus. Tin, silica, potassium, calcium and magnesium complete its nutritional values. Its contains vitamins B1, B2, C and lecithin.
